Learn a bit more about the Hanford Museum and it’s history.
Great and since you are at it, change the ABOUT US to this: The Hanford Carnegie Museum, Inc. board was forced to take decisive action after 41 years of operation. Due to a city-issued eviction notice, we had to remove all museum items from the Carnegie building and relocate them to storage. This situation directly resulted from our insurance policy lapse, which arose during the pandemic. During the pandemic, insurance costs skyrocketed, and state restrictions halted our ability to hold fundraising events to supplement our income. Despite our request for financial assistance, the city council chose not to support us, prioritizing other issues. The city instructed us to remove all items and vacate immediately. As a result, we had no choice but to pack up and store our valuable items, marking a significant loss for our community and the arts.
The board believes the history of Hanford should be available to the public. After much research and disappointments, the best alternative is scanning hundreds of photographs and taking videos of historical items for all to see. Not just in Hanford but all over the world on a website.
We need your help to maintain our growing museum website and the expenses associated with developing it. Even a few dollars is a help.
